Engineering Leader & Indie App Developer · Boulder, CO

Nick is a hands-on engineering leader who has spent most of his career in digital health and education. By day he's a technical lead at Rosetta Stone, where he's driving a ground-up rewrite of the consumer app across mobile and web. He has held roles from developer to CTO, at startups and at large companies.

Outside of work, Nick runs Nimbus Peak Solutions, a solo app studio where he ships products that solve problems he has run into himself, and takes on contract work for clients who need those same skills applied to their own products. He also co-hosts The Dyslexia Journey, a podcast and YouTube channel that grew out of his own family's experience and now reaches tens of thousands of families (320K+ YouTube views, 57K+ podcast downloads). He advises early-stage startups on architecture, hiring, and technical strategy.

Alongside the studio, and before it, Nick has shipped web, iOS, and Android apps professionally across roles in digital health and education. Some of that work is still in the App Store:

The Company

Nimbus Peak Solutions, LLC

Nimbus Peak Solutions is an independent app studio based in Boulder, Colorado. Nick started it because the software he kept wanting usually didn't exist.

Every app here starts as something he needed, then gets worked on until it's good enough to hand to someone else.

Shipped products include Nimbus Migraine, a migraine tracker for finding triggers and spotting patterns, on the web and on iOS and Android; I Was There, a keepsake app for the concerts you've been to, on the App Store and Google Play; and Bankrolled, a web app that traces the money behind the candidates on your ballot.

The studio also takes on client and contract work: mobile apps, web apps, and backends for other teams, plus advising founders on architecture and technical strategy. See services for what that looks like.

Hiring for a project, or just want to talk shop? I'm currently available for contract work.
